The Full Moon Yoga Class Series
Our modern lifestyles offer few opportunities for intentional rest + rejuvenation. Honoring the lunar cycle provides bi-monthly reminders to check-in, contemplate, and align your personal energy with the season. The Full Moon is a time to harness your prana-shakti—the vitality that makes you who you—and celebrate the power of feminine energy in supportive community. In these monthly classes you will move, rest, laugh, share, listen, and learn while holding space for the feminine spirit. No yoga experience necessary! The movement portion will always be gentle and simple.
The Strawberry Moon
According to Almanac.com, June’s Full Moon is known as the Strawberry Moon by the Algonquin, Ojibwe, Dakota, and Lakota tribes. This name represents the abundance of the berry harvest in late spring/early summer. This year’s Strawberry Moon will be particularly unusual because of its close proximity to the Summer Solstice. With the sun being at its highest point in the sky, the moon will be at its lowest point. This means some people living far north, like in Iceland, may not see the Full Moon at all because it won’t make it much past the horizon! Common European names for this moon include the Honey Moon or Mead Moon as June was traditionally a month for marriage and celebration.
Monthly practice forecast: ripe and abundant
Welcome summer! This is a season of enjoyment, relaxation, and connection. Newborn baby animals are finding their way in nature, a new round of flowers are blooming, and the sun is shining in the Northern Hemisphere. This is a time to go outside, to breathe fresh air, and to live care-free. At the same time, the summer months can also be hot, humid, and heavy. All of that abundance can quickly turn into overindulgence; moderation is your friend.
What we’ll do in this yoga class
In this class we will start with some breath work combined with mudra
We’ll move through a gentle flow to invite in abundance
We’ll end with some cooling pranayama and a solstice-inspired nidra
I’ll offer some journaling prompts, space to share your experiences, and the opportunity to connect with others at the end.
I hope you can join us!
