The Full Moon Yoga Class Series
This year I’m offering a yoga class for every Full Moon. The lunar cycle offers a natural monthly reminder to check in, contemplate, and align your personal energy with Mother Nature. The Full Moon offers a regular opportunity to celebrate your strengths and the power of feminine energy in supportive community and to connect to and harness your prana-shakti—the vitality that makes you who you are.
These Full Moon yoga classes will both energize and relax you, soothe your soul, and connect you more deeply to your Self. You’ll move, rest, laugh, share, listen, and learn. This is a time for you, for the feminine spirit, for your body, for your mind, for your soul. No yoga experience necessary! The movement portion will always be gentle and simple.
The Pink Moon
According to Almanac.com, Apirl’s Full Moon is known as the Pink Moon based on the blooming of creeping phlox, a wildflower native to the Eastern part of the United States. I don’t know about you, but I’ve definitely enjoyed seeing all the pinks, purples, yellows, whites, and greens blooming all over the neighborhood!
Harnessing spring-time energies
There has been a lot of celestial shifting going on lately. A seasonal shift to spring is no small energetic transition, let alone the addition of a full solar eclipse in the new moon right on the heels of Easter and Holi. Plus, Ramadan ends and Passover begins this month. No matter what religion or culture you follow, these spring-time energies are heightened and in full power and you may feel pulled toward celebration or down-right exhausted.
The spring season is associated with the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle. During this time a menstruating body stops bleeding, ovaries develop an egg and the uterus builds up its lining again in preparation for ovulation and the implantation of the egg. This is a season of development. In the seasons of life, spring is associated with the energy of menarche and coming into womanhood. This season of development can be a tender one, full of energy but also vulnerable. It requires proper tending, adequate rest, encouragement, and courage.
You may be feeling an energetic push right now in your own life, whether that be to get outside into the garden, to cross off those to-do items on your “spring cleaning” list, or to bask in the renewed warmth of the sun. You may also still be feeling like it’s best to pause, linger, observe, or hold back. Whatever is calling you, pay attention to your personal energy and tend to it with respect. Give yourself space for rest and rejuvenation alongside the fun and play of this beautifully vibrant season.
In our class this month we’ll play with movement that both energizes and celebrates our feminine vitality and leave plenty of time for rest. We’ll tend to these energies of development with compassionate care and love.
