Is Savasana meditation?

It depends. 😊

First, it’s worth defining meditation.

Meditation describes both a state of being and a practice technique. This is getting into a bit of a semantics debate, but I think it’s important to distinguish between the two.

In the state of meditation the mind merges with collective consciousness and no longer exists independently. You are unaware of being in the state of meditation while you’re in it because the meditative state exists beyond the limitations of the mind. Crazy stuff 🤪.

There are many practice techniques that can be used to help bring about the state of meditation, including watching the breath or thoughts, visualization, mantra, yoga Nidra, and many other practices.

Savasana is one of the practice techniques that can bring you to the threshold of the state of meditation. You need to be able to experience deep rest in order to slip into the meditative state, so think of Savasana and all of our practices that we’ll be experiencing throughout…
