Thank you for writing this wonderful post Ashley. I love the blend of information and practical application. It’s great to see which yoga poses are helpful in working with each chakra - and thanks for the photos. I’ll come back and read this again and look forward to trying it out on my yoga mat. Thank you!
Yes to the subtleness of the energy body! Reiki is a great tool for tapping into those energy fields. I find sometimes people need concrete, tangible anchors as gateways to the subtle body. It’s very challenging to teach but also very rewarding and transformative.
This is so, so interesting! Thank you so much for this Ashley! As a complete newbie to the whole concept I found your article to be informative and very useful for the future. I need time to digest this a bit more but I love how it has opened up more questions for me as I explore this.
I’d be really curious to hear how this information intersects with what you study and practice Steve! I really do believe everything is all connected and ultimately points to the same thing. Each individual just has to find the practice that resonates with them.
What a great post! Thank you Ashley. I really appreciate the clear explanation of the chakras and the simple ways to work with them. I definitely find myself in the 3rd and 5th chakras and will try out your suggestions and see what I notice.
You’re welcome! Something I didn’t mention in the post was how the chakras are all interrelated. If you’re really feeling the 3rd and 5th chakras right now, pay particular attention to the 4th, and also the 2nd and 6th. Nothing happens in isolation 🙂
I have practiced with my chakras before and each time I come back to incorporating this into my practice, I discover new things. Maybe this has to do with just gaining more life experience, and of course becoming a mom brings a whole new level of awareness around my personal energy. Speaking of which, my favorite way to connect with my personal energy is either being out in nature, chanting/singing, or journaling. The second chakra resonates most with my current experience because I've been working really hard to define my creative expression and to believe in it (hello, imposter syndrome...). I feel the need to connect more with my third chakra to give me that umph to put my work out into the world with more confidence!
I’m right there with you working on trying to believe in myself. For me the 4th and 5th chakras have always felt like the ones I need to pay attention to most 🙂
I love how you intertwine Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs with the chakras. It is a beautiful blend of east and west to show that those on the path are all trying to get to the same things with the tools that are available to them.
I studied nonviolent communication for several years and I’m still working on practicing it with myself and the world around me every day.
The chakra I am working on right now is the third chakra. This is the one that needs the most attention.
I am so on the same page with the idea that we’re all trying to get to the same thing! I also love nonviolent communication. I integrated that into my 300hour training and it’s also really hard to practice consistently.

You're so welcome! Come back and let me know how they all feel when you've tried them 🙂
I practice Reiki, and I'm starting to perceive my 6th chakra. It is very subtle, so is my 4th... Thanks for this!

Oh, please call me Steve :)

The third chakra is my favorite to work with 🙂
