Now, yoga begins.

Yoga for Women’s Wellbeing offers yoga practices, wisdom, and stories to support you as you dance through the natural transitions of womanhood 🪷

Hi! Welcome to Yoga for Women’s Wellbeing. How are you feeling today?

My name is Ashley and I am a yoga student of life, teacher, storyteller, and mother of three, living in Alexandria, VA. In this season of my life I create in the in-between spaces of motherhood.

I’ve been writing a weekly newsletter on and off since 2012 as a way to share the transformative power of yoga. This practice has changed my life and I want to share that potential for transformation with you, too.

I’m not your average yoga teacher. For me, yoga is a lifestyle. The practice happens all around you throughout the course of your day. I often use storytelling as a vehicle to carry the ancient wisdom and help you integrate the wisdom into your life.

You’ll love this online studio space if you’re a purpose-driven woman seeking to live a fulfilling life and reaching your highest potential. You’re especially welcome here if you’re feeling stuck in a stage of life that you never thought you’d find yourself in.

About me

Family always comes first (biological and chosen). I love reading, writing, nature hikes, a good spa day, blueberries, chai lattes (spicy, not sweet), golf, travel, snowboarding, discovering new places, and learning.

I moved my mailing list to Substack because that’s where all the thoughtful, kind people hang out. My teaching and writing takes you deeper than what IG or FB allows for. (I’m too old for TikTok.) Even Youtube tends to reward short attention spans. I want to give you space to reflect and ideas to integrate yoga into your own life. I want to make you think. I want to get you out of autopilot and into your body, mind, and soul.

What sets me apart from most other yoga teachers is my ability to weave, integrate, curate, and synthesize. I’m good at simplifying the complex and making it relatable. I put a lot of thought into my sequences, scripts, and posts but I can also think on my toes and draw from a deep well of creativity I’ve been cultivating since I was a little girl. I have depth and breadth. I’m a proud generalist, but always bring you back to the universal wisdom—the great truths that yoga offers as a foundation for us to stand on.

What to expect

Yoga for Women’s Wellbeing is my online yoga studio. Though I’ve been teaching yoga for over a decade, it wasn’t until I became a mother that I realized how ill-equipped the practice of modern postural yoga is at meeting the needs of women moving through menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, motherhood, periomenopause, and menopause. This newsletter explores all aspects of yoga—philosophy, meditation, breathwork, mudra, and poses—to support you through your natural cycles and transitions.

I publish weekly(ish), currently on Sunday mornings. Family life with young children makes life unpredictable and sometimes I have to flow with the river of life. I also offer a monthly full moon flow and a monthly new moon nidra, plus seasonal special posts and events.

Here at Yoga for Women’s Wellbeing free subscribers get:

Paid subscribers get:

What students say

“Ashley is a wise and gifted teacher. After working with Ashley for just four weeks, I have more flexibility in my spine and hips, and have strengthened my core muscles. The pain I have experienced in my neck and lower back is almost gone. I have been able to learn yoga poses in a way that is safe and healthy for my back and body. After each yoga lesson, I feel calm, centered, relaxed, nurtured, and energized.

-Benta S., Licensed Professional Counselor

“Once I learned from Ashley, I really started to enjoy (LOVE actually) yoga. I walk away after a yoga class feeling refreshed and almost zen-like. Yoga has been great for me these past nine months – I’m hooked! I love working with Ashley.”

-Bridget S., Federal Employee

“Ashley taught me a precise breathing exercise in our first session that instantly calms me down, eases my nausea, and allows me a moment of stillness. I have used this while driving through DC rush hour traffic, as a passenger on an airliner, and to help quiet my thoughts so I can get a restful night’s sleep. I now also have the tools to help stretch and strengthen my muscles to keep me out of a cycle of pain, as well as the new body awareness and knowledge to help me prevent the pain. I have more control now. I do not feel hopeless.

-Sara W., Graphic Designer

“After working with Ashley, I’m able to see things a little more clearly and I feel like yoga movements are an absolute for my daily routine.

-Sandra D., Federal Employee

“Ashley just makes so much sense. Ashley has the knowledge and expertise to design postures, stretches, and exercises that specifically address my issues. I feel that my body is learning new ways to move and rest, and the changes are really making a difference. I feel grounded in a way that I have never felt before, and I am sure that I am less likely to fall since working with Ashley. Her comprehensive understanding of how bodies work allow her to see where the body is troubled, and she is inventive in designing exercises and other remedies. I also love the fact that she is happy to explain exactly what she is doing and why, so that I can use my brain to help my body!

-Alice S., Psychologist
